In 2018 ScottishPower Renewables donated £55,000 to East Coast College’s Offshore Wind Skills Centre, supporting 13 places on introductory and specialist training courses.  

The centre in Great Yarmouth opened in June 2018, and one of the beneficiaries of this donation was former fabrication engineer Gwyn Evans. Gwyn told his story to the BBC in May 2019, describing how his place at the college took him through a journey of education, support and skills development. This led to a remarkable transformation from being on benefits to landing a £40K salary. To find out more, watch his story in the video below.
